FAQ’s
How far in advance should I order?
The earlier, the better! My calendar often fills weeks, and sometimes months, in advance, especially during wedding and graduation season. If you have a date in mind, reach out as soon as you can.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. A non-refundable retainer is required to reserve your date. For orders ovr $125 a payment schedule is available. All orders must be paid in full no less that 2 weeks prior to pick up.
Why are retainers non-refundable?
When you reserve a date, I begin planning your design, ordering specialty supplies, and turning away other orders for that time. Your retainer protects that reserved space on my calendar.
What happens if I need to cancel or postpone?
Life happens! If your event is postponed, I’ll do my best to accommodate a new date if my schedule allows. Because custom cakes are made specifically for your event, payments are generally non-refundable, especially once supplies have been purchased or work has begun.
Can you copy a cake from Pinterest or AI?
I love using inspiration photos to understand your style, but I don’t create exact copies of another decorator’s work. Every cake is designed just for you while capturing the overall look and feel you love.
Do cakes and cookies contain gluten, nuts, dairy or eggs?
Generally cakes do not contain nuts but do contain gluten, eggs and dairy. Cookies are made with almond extract. Gluten friendly and vegan cakes are available at additional cost. See allergies below.
Do you use fondant?
I specialize in buttercream cakes. While I occasionally use small fondant accents, my signature style celebrates beautiful buttercream.
Can you accommodate food allergies?
While I can sometimes work around certain ingredients, my kitchen is not allergy-free. Because common allergens are present, I cannot guarantee products are free from cross-contact.
Do you deliver?
Yes, delivery is available for many orders for an additional fee. Tiered cakes are strongly encouraged to be delivered so I can ensure they arrive and are set up safely.
How should I transport my cake?
Place your cake on the flat floor of your vehicle, never on a seat. Keep the air conditioning running, drive carefully, and head straight to your event. Cakes are happiest when they’re cool and level.
How should I store my cake?
Keep your cake refrigerated until shortly before serving. Buttercream tastes best when it has time to come to room temperature but will show you how much it hates heat in warmer temperatures.
How many servings will my cake provide?
Serving sizes are based on industry-standard wedding portions. If you’d like larger dessert-sized slices, let me know and I’ll help you choose the right size.
Do you offer tastings?
Wedding tastings are available by appointment. They’re a delicious way to explore flavors and chat about your vision.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Invoices can be paid securely online using major credit cards. Payment deadlines are listed on your invoice. Orders will be cancelled automatically if payment is not received within 3 days of due date.
Do you make cookies too?
Yes! Decorated sugar cookies are one of my favorite things to create. They’re perfect for birthdays, showers, weddings, holidays, corporate gifts, and just because.

Wedding cancellation policy: All payments made toward a wedding cake are non-refundable. Payment reserves your event date and covers design time, scheduling, and materials purchased specifically for your order. Postponements: If your wedding is postponed, I will gladly transfer your order to a new date if I am available. The new date must be within 12 months of the original event date. If I am unavailable for the new date, all payments made remain nonrefundable due to the time reserved and work already completed. Any changes to the cake design, size or pricing for the new date may result in additional charges. Changes within 30 days will be accomodated where possible and may incur additional charges. In the event of cirucumstances beyond either party's control, including severe weather, natural disaster, government restrictions, or other unforeseen emergencies, every reasonable effort will be made to reschedule the order. If rescheduling is not possible, refunds or credits will be considered at the sole discretion of Susie Q's Cakery after deducting incurred costs.
